Directly translated, “Pura Vida” means “the simple life”, but in Costa Rica it’s so much more than just a turn of phrase. It’s a way of life! It means diving into every decadent moment and living life with the simple pleasures in mind.
I took this trip with my daughters over spring break and immersed ourselves in the jungles, coastline and wildlife of the area. Everything feels so out of this world in Costa Rica, the bright green tree frogs, the bright blue butterflies, the exotic flowers, and the immaculate beaches are a dream for a photographer like me.

We explored all throughout the Osa Peninsula and Nicoya Peninsula. The highlight being taking an overnight hike to an old ranger station in Corcovado National Park. Teaming with wildlife, the Osa Peninsula is home to 2.5% of the planet’s bio diversity. We saw Scarlett Macaws, Toucan’s, monkey’s, butterflies, anteaters and even the elusive tupier.
My daughters had such a blast too! They loved exploring the sights and sounds of the jungle and playing at pristine beaches along the coast.
If you get a chance to explore the jungles of Costa Rica in your lifetime, I highly recommend it! This was such a change from our normal scenery in Whistler, Canada, and we loved experiencing the tropical weather combined with the immense wildlife of the area.
