"Same favourite location, two separate trial runs for future adventures."
This week I found myself in Cheakamus for a couple of overnight trips. Same favourite location, two separate trial runs for future adventures.
For trial one, the goal was to test portaging the canoe into Cheakamus Lake for an overnight trip in preparation for the ambitious goal of portaging to Garibaldi Lake later in the season.
Ready to take what I learned from the trip and refine the process for the Garibaldi mission, this was a fun way to work out some bugs. One thing is for sure, the dolley design needs to go back to the drawing board.
For trial two, the girls and I wanted to try out our first backcountry camping experience and being short access to great views, Cheakamus was the perfect pick.
Making the 3 km hike in and setting up camp on the lake, we took in the landscape at dusk and dawn and the trip did not disappoint.
From the evening under the stars to taking in a stunning morning sunrise, curiosity was peaked to take on further adventures.
