We took an overnight ski touring trip to the Wendy Thompson Hut in the Marriot Basin area on the Duffey Lake Road.
We trekked for many kilometers enjoying a full couple of days. Ski touring offers so much freedom when exploring these remote destinations with the opportunity to capture photos along the way.
Ski touring to the Wendy Thompson hut is an experience I highly recommend. This location offers so many great opportunities for backcountry skiing (and hiking in the summer). The rounded arch design of this rustic cabin sleeps 16 and has a huge kitchen and dining area. And you can’t imagine what the stars look like at 1,860 m up - it’s indescribable.
I was pleased to receive an honorable mention in the “Celebrate Winter” category of the Canadian Geographic 35th Annual 2020 Photo Competition for the photo bellow of the cabin at dusk.
