Elevate Your Space with Captivating Art: A Day in the Blackcomb Backcountry

The morning began with a call to reschedule a planned shoot due to uncertain weather conditions. This twist of fate led to an impromptu backcountry excursion with a long-time friend and touring partner. The decision to skip work for a day of exploration off Blackcomb set the stage for a day that would be etched in memory.

In the heart of adventure and the crisp mountain air, my day in the Blackcomb backcountry unfolded with the promise of extra excitement. After 6 years of ski touring, I had invested in a split board, and this would be it’s first day out. This would offer the flexibility to choose between snowboarding and ski touring based on the conditions and my group for the future trips.
As we ascended the lifts to Glacier Creek Lodge, we paused for a coffee to catch up and discuss the day ahead. The quiet hum of the lifts and the promise of untouched powder added to the excitement in the air. Catching the lift and then the t-bar we made our way into the Blackcomb backcountry, with its vast expanse and breathtaking views, it became our playground for the day.

It was unbelievably quiet and there seemed to just be a dozen or so fellow tourers headed out for the day. As we ascended to get our first views of Circle Lake and Decker Mountain, the weather cracked into glorious sunshine and the untouched snow was so light. The initial descent on the new split-board was nothing short of exhilarating. The freedom to carve through the powder with ease added a new dimension to the experience.
Amidst the breathtaking scenery, a beautiful moment unfolded. Two skiers pausing in the distance created a scene so captivating that I couldn't resist capturing it. This spontaneous click resulted in a print that encapsulates the essence of the day in the Blackcomb backcountry.
Transitioning to skin across the lake heightened the sense of adventure before starting our breathtaking run down to Decker Lake. The days you dream off. Light snow, sunshine, and no crowds.
Lunch on the frozen lake provided not only sustenance but also an opportunity to soak in the incredible surroundings. Gratitude filled the air as we marveled at the beauty of the mountains, realizing how fortunate we were to be a part of such an awe-inspiring landscape.
